Dr Lim graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1989. After graduation, she worked at the Government Dental Clinic at SGH and Alexandra Hospital Dental Clinic for 2 years.
She subsequently went on to pursue a Masters in Dental Surgery degree in Operative Dentistry at the University of Sydney, graduating in 1994. She also served as an Associate Lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Sydney teaching undergraduate dental students.
After she returned from Sydney, she taught full time at the Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore from 1994-1998 and held the position of Senior Registrar at the NUH Dental Centre. She obtained Fellowship of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in Operative Dentistry in 1998 and was later conferred Fellowship of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in Prosthodontics in 2009. She is also registered on the Specialist Register under Prosthodontics.
In 1998, Dr Lim joined Omni Dental Centre while maintaining her passion in teaching the undergraduate dental students at the Faculty of Dentistry NUS as a part time Senior Adjunct Lecturer. Dr Lim has also given lectures and published numerous articles both locally and internationally.
Dr Lim has a special interest in Cosmetic Dentistry such as CAD/CAM Cerec 3D porcelain restorations, implants, full mouth reconstructions and in dealing with anxious patients.
